Connectors were always training wheels.

Connectors were always training wheels.

They solved one specific problem: non-developers could not write API calls. So Microsoft built 400+ wrappers. Dropdowns instead of code. Useful. Genuinely useful.

But training wheels are not the destination. They are what you use until you no longer need them.

AI can now call APIs directly. It reads documentation, handles authentication, constructs the request. No pre-built wrapper required.

That does not mean connectors are useless today. It means the advantage they represented is gone.

The question is whether you are still investing in them like it is a long-term bet.
