OpenTelemetry for Dataverse ServiceClient?

OpenTelemetry for Dataverse ServiceClient?

I love OpenTelemetry. It’s so easy to plug in instrumentation and have a clear view of your distributed system.

But Dataverse ServiceClient doesn’t have it yet…

Its logging is sparse.

Fixing a bug using the Dataverse logs in Application Insights is not helpful.

I started to add OpenTelemetry instrumentation into my own code for Dataverse calls.

It has already been running for over a year, and I am very happy with it.

I packed it up into a NuGet to share. Hope you can find usefulness in it. Please let me know!

Abstract the abstraction 🤯. .NET devs, we love our patterns... maybe too much. For a simple CRUD app, I've seen: Repositories – because obviously we can't query directly, that's too mainstream UnitOfWork – like transactions, but now with extra ceremony Services –...
