Big news: I became a dad again! 🎉

Meet Aiyra, big bother Aidan’s proud lil’ sis. Our family just got bigger.

I know some people don’t have children and that’s okay. But how to explain how a kid enriches your life in ways you never imagined, to someone who doesn’t have kids? How to explain this to myself before I had kids?

Let me give it a try:

– Suddenly, there is someone more important than me. I used to be the center of my own universe, and even my wife couldn’t change that. But a kid changes everything. You learn to put someone else’s needs before your own and that makes you a better and different person. This experience is something unique to have in your life, that nothing else can give you.

– You appreciate what really matters in life. You may have been obsessed with work, career, money, and status. But when you are old and gray you want to have your family around you, not your colleagues or clients

– You relive your childhood through their eyes. You get to see them grow and learn new things every day, things that you may have forgotten or taken for granted. You get to teach them about the world, about life, about yourself.

I’m not saying it’s easy or always fun. It’s hard work and sometimes stressful and exhausting. But it’s also rewarding and fulfilling and amazing. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Thank you for listening to my rambling about my kids. I hope you are all doing well and happy in your own ways. And if you ever want to meet my kids or babysit them (hint hint), just let me know!

Budgets instead of Estimates

Budgets instead of Estimates Estimating a feature is difficult and is often a guess (or even a lie). An Estimate is for a fixed scope. So, you need to think deeply how to implement the feature, before giving an Estimate. The business can then use the Estimate to...
